About this lesson

In this lesson you will learn when to use the Indicativo and when the Subjuntivo in subordinate clauses in Spanish at B2 level. We will look at expressions such as «es evidente», «está demostrado» and «es seguro», together with verbs of thinking (creer, pensar), speech (decir, confirmar) and perception (ver, oír). We will pay special attention to the exceptions with the verb «dudar» and to the dual use of «saber». The lesson includes authentic texts and an opinion forum about low-cost airlines as the context for the exercises.

  • Recognise and correctly use the Indicativo after affirmative expressions of certainty and conviction.
  • Apply the Subjuntivo after the negative forms of the same expressions and verbs.
  • Understand the exception with the verb «dudar» – Subjuntivo in the affirmative form, Indicativo in the negative form.
  • Handle the verbs of thinking, speech and perception and know when they are followed by the Indicativo or the Subjuntivo.
  • Use «saber» correctly with the Indicativo (a real fact) and the Subjuntivo (doubt/surprise).
