Lektion 2 - Grammatik: Präposition – Adverb; Der Temporalsatz; Die Konjunktionen als und wenn; Leseverstehen: Der Tee
The lesson covers the difference between prepositions and adverbs (nach/nachdem, seit/seitdem, etc.), temporal subordinate clauses and the use of the conjunctions "als" and "wenn" at B2 level.
About this lesson
In this lesson you will learn how, in German, prepositions introduce a noun, while adverbs introduce a whole clause (for example nach → nachdem, seit → seitdem). You will master the temporal prepositional constructions with "seit", "ab", "bis" and "bis zu", and you will understand when the conjunction "wenn" is used (a simultaneous action in the present/future or a repeated action in the past) and when "als" is used (a single action in the past). You will also practise nominalising temporal clauses with the appropriate prepositions. At the end of the lesson you will read and analyse a text about the history of tea.
