In this lesson you will get to know infinitive constructions in German at B2 level. You will learn when "um … zu", "ohne … zu" and "anstatt … zu" are used instead of subordinate clauses with "damit", "ohne dass" and "anstatt dass". You will also understand the rules for using the infinitive without "zu" – after modal verbs, after "lassen", after verbs of motion and after "hören", "sehen" and "fühlen". Reading comprehension is practised through Baron Münchhausen's captivating tale of a sea adventure with a dog, a shark and partridges.
