Couch Potato
A lazy person.
A person who spends a lot of time lounging or sitting, usually watching television, eating snacks or consuming alcoholic beverages.
Origin
The term was invented in 1976 by Tom Iacino as a play on words with 'boob tuber' (boob tube = television, tuber = potato). Between 1976–9, it was registered as a trademark by Robert Armstrong.
