English from A1 to C1 — the whole path in one place

The English courses at Kabinata start from the level you are at today and go upward, without you having to switch platforms halfway through. The program follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) — the same scale used to describe language skills in CVs and job ads. Kabinata has been operating since 2005, for over 20 years, and more than 70,000 students have gone through our courses.

  • English for beginners — level A1: sounds, introducing yourself, numbers, the most commonly used verbs. The goal is for you to say your first meaningful sentences, not to memorize tables.
  • English level A2: past and future tenses, shopping, travel, a short conversation with a stranger.
  • English level B1: a connected narrative, an opinion, a phone call, an email to a colleague.
  • English level B2: discussion and argument, work meetings, films without subtitles.
  • English level C1: nuances, idioms, professional and academic speech.

Each level is complete in itself. You can take just one — for example because you need B1 for a specific job — or go the whole way to C1. So an online English course can be short and targeted, or keep you company for several years.

How a live lesson works

Learning English online works best when you speak. Our English lessons are live and in groups, with a real teacher in real time — this is not a video course you watch alone and then wonder whether you are pronouncing the words correctly. You join the class, you hear each other and you speak.

  • You speak out loud in class, rather than only reading and listening to a recording.
  • You ask as soon as something is unclear and get the answer in the same lesson.
  • The teacher hears your pronunciation and can correct it in class.
  • You learn together with other people at your level — the conversation is with live conversation partners.

Every lesson is recorded. If you are on a shift, you are ill, or your child has decided that this is exactly the moment they need you, you can watch the recording later and not fall behind the group. The recording also comes in handy for revision before an exam or an interview.

Practice between lessons: “Kabinkova”

The group classes give you direction, but speaking needs repetition in between them too. That is why the live English lessons come with “Kabinkova” — an AI conversation partner you can talk to in English by voice or write to in a chat, at any time of the day or night.

  • You can make mistakes freely — there is no one on the other side to laugh at you.
  • You practice the topic from the last lesson while it is still fresh.
  • It is available 24/7 — early in the morning and late at night.

The combination works: a live teacher who gives you direction, and AI conversation practice for the repetitions between classes.

Who teaches English

English is taught by our teachers. Here are two of their ratings on the platform:

  • Kotse — 4.94 average rating from 8749 ratings and 4409 lessons taught.
  • Tsveti — 4.92 average rating from 3610 ratings.

In total, the team consists of 29 teachers across the five languages we offer. You can see their profiles and languages under our teachers. If you prefer to work one-on-one with a teacher — for example because of a specific interview or a business trip — there are private lessons as well.

Which level to start from

Many people underestimate themselves. You studied English at school, then watched TV series for ten years, and you think you are a “zero” — when in fact you are at A2 and would be bored in a group for complete beginners.

The easiest way to check is the free English level test. A rough guide:

  • You cannot put a sentence together on your own → A1.
  • You understand simple questions and answer with a few words → A2.
  • You speak, but slowly and with mistakes, and you understand slow speech → B1.
  • You communicate freely but struggle in an argument or on a specialized topic → B2.
  • You lack the nuances and the exact word → C1.
