Be going to – English Grammar

Be going to is a future form in English, similar to simple future tense.

Usage

Be going to in English is used when we talk about:

Planned actions in the future;

• We are going to sing at the party.

Intentions;

• I'm going to visit my grandma next week.

Actions that are certain to happen in the future;

• Look at that car! It is going to crash into the yellow one.

Predictions, based on observation of the current situation

• Sheila is going to give birth in a couple of weeks.
