This lesson presents the rules for turning direct speech into reported speech (estilo indirecto), the sequence of verb tenses, and expressions for giving an opinion, agreeing and disagreeing.
About this lesson
In this lesson you will get to know estilo indirecto — the way we report other people's words and ideas in Spanish. You will learn how verb tenses change when direct speech is turned into reported speech: for example, presente de indicativo becomes imperfecto, and futuro simple becomes condicional simple. We will look at two authentic dialogues featuring an interview with a mayor, a letter from Cusco, and opinions about advertising and football. At the end we will practise expressions for giving an opinion, agreeing, disagreeing and showing indifference.
