About this lesson
In this lesson you will expand your vocabulary related to housing, the household and rent in German at B1 level. You will get to know a typical German apartment block through an authentic text about the Normann family and their three-room flat. You will practise using prepositions with the dative and accusative cases in the context of describing a home. You will also work with opposite concepts (Neubau/Altbau, mieten/vermieten), compound nouns with "Wohn-" and adjectives for characterising a home. The lesson includes speaking, writing and grammar tasks directly related to the original teaching material.

- Learn the core vocabulary for describing a home, rooms and furniture in German.
- Be able to describe the location of a flat (floor, neighbourhood, type of building).
- Understand and use prepositions of place and time (mit, in, von, aus, bei, nach, ohne) in the correct case.
- Form compound nouns with 'Wohn-' and recognise their grammatical gender.
- Talk briefly about your own or someone else's home using the vocabulary you have learned.
