This is a question that always comes up in the first hours of the Fast Start 4 level.
I think it's appropriate to clarify the main difference in meaning between these two verbs.
What's the difference between clean and clear?
v CLEAR – verb, to remove or get rid of whatever is blocking or filling something, or to stop being blocked or full.
· It took several hours to clear after the accident.
· I'll make the coffee you clear the table.
· Could you clear your things off/from the sofa?
v CLEAN – verb, to remove dirt from something.
· I'm going to clean the windows this morning.
· You should always clean your teeth after meals.
· Would you clean the fingermarks from/off the door?
