Learn how to ask for locations and give simple directions around the city in Spanish, using hay/estar and essential prepositions of place.
About this lesson
In this lesson, you will practise asking 'Where is…?' and 'Is there… nearby?', as well as describing simple routes around the city using only the present tense. You will work with common urban landmarks (street, square, metro, park) and key directional prepositions: right, left, straight ahead, next to, between, near/far. You will also learn to distinguish between hay (there is/are) and estar (to be located).

What you'll learn
- Ask questions about location: ¿Dónde está…?; ¿Hay… por aquí?
- Give and understand short directions using the present tense: vas/sigues todo recto; giras a la derecha/izquierda.
- Use essential prepositions of place: a la derecha, a la izquierda, todo recto, al lado de, entre, cerca, lejos.
- Distinguish between hay (there is/are) and estar (to be located) in simple sentences.
- Name key places around the city (bank, pharmacy, metro, square, street, park).
