Lesson 10: My Last Weekend and Travel – Introduction to the Perfekt (Past Tense)

We talk about last weekend, travel, shopping, and work, give directions, and express simple opinions — with an introduction to the Perfekt tense (haben/sein).

About this lesson

In this final A2 lesson, we bring together everyday topics — shopping, travel, work, hobbies, and directions — and introduce the past tense Perfekt using the auxiliary verbs haben and sein. You will learn to talk about your last weekend, explain how you travelled or what you bought, give directions around town, and share a brief personal opinion.

40 minutes

What you'll learn

  • Form and use the Perfekt with haben/sein for common everyday verbs (gehen, fahren, kommen, kaufen, arbeiten, spielen).
  • Give a short account of your last weekend, a trip, or a working day.
  • Ask for and give simple directions around town.
  • Talk about shopping (tickets, food), hobbies, and basic work situations.
  • Express a simple opinion (using Meiner Meinung nach…) and understand common phrases for running late and staying organised.
