About this lesson
In this lesson you'll master the basic German greetings and learn to say your name and where you're from. We'll use only simple present-tense sentences, suitable for absolute beginners, and build confidence in your first short dialogues.

What you'll learn
- Recognize and use basic greetings appropriate to the situation (morning, daytime, evening, farewell).
- Introduce yourself: say your name with “Ich heiße…/Ich bin…”.
- Say where you're from with “Ich komme aus…” and ask a simple question about origin.
- Understand and ask the simple questions “Wie heißt du?” and “Woher kommst du?”.
- Build a short exchange of 2–4 sentences when meeting someone for the first time.
