In this lesson you'll master the basic German greetings and learn to say your name and where you're from. We'll use only simple present-tense sentences, suitable for absolute beginners, and build confidence in your first short dialogues.

What you'll learn
Recognize and use basic greetings appropriate to the situation (morning, daytime, evening, farewell).
Introduce yourself: say your name with “Ich heiße…/Ich bin…”.
Say where you're from with “Ich komme aus…” and ask a simple question about origin.
Understand and ask the simple questions “Wie heißt du?” and “Woher kommst du?”.
Build a short exchange of 2–4 sentences when meeting someone for the first time.
