About this lesson

In Lesson 25 you will learn how to form and use the simple future tense (Futur Simple) in French. You will work with a dialogue about student life in Lyon that features real uses of the future — promises, assumptions and hypothetical situations. You will practise the regular and irregular verbs in the Futur Simple and learn how to ask questions and form negatives in the future tense. The lesson is a key step towards expressing future plans and conditions more freely and confidently at A2 level.

What you'll learn

• Form the Futur Simple of regular verbs from the first, second and third groups.
• Know and use the most common irregular verbs in the Futur Simple (avoir, être, aller, faire, pouvoir, etc.).
• Distinguish between the three ways of expressing the future: présent, futur proche, futur simple.
• Ask questions and form negatives in the Futur Simple.
• Use the future tense in the context of promises, commands and hypothetical sentences.
• Recognise and use useful vocabulary from the field of education and student life.
