About this lesson

This opening A2-level lesson gives you the confidence to kick off short conversations: greetings, personal introductions, where you live and what you do, basic likes and dislikes, simple directions around town, and your first steps with the past tense (passé composé with avoir). Perfect for real-life situations such as shopping, travelling, and small talk at work.

What you'll learn

  • Introduce yourself: your name, where you're from, where you live, and what you do.
  • Talk briefly about your daily routine and hobbies, and express simple opinions (j'aime / je n'aime pas, c'est).
  • Ask for and give very basic directions (où est…, à gauche / à droite, tout droit).
  • Understand and use essential phrases for shopping and travelling (combien, un billet, la gare).
  • Start using the passé composé with avoir for common actions: j'ai acheté, j'ai visité, j'ai travaillé.
