A revision lesson that consolidates key grammar structures and vocabulary from module B1-2, including modal verbs, relative clauses, prepositional phrases and the use of 'get'.

About this lesson

In this lesson you will revise and consolidate the key grammar structures and vocabulary from the previous units of the course. Through a variety of exercises you will work on modal verbs (need, must, should), structures with 'it's time', relative clauses and prepositional phrases. The lesson also covers the use of 'get' with adjectives and the infinitive, participle clauses with 'having done', and important collocations such as 'large quantities', 'rain-bearing clouds' and 'a little fresh air'. It is suitable for consolidating your knowledge before moving on to advanced levels.

What you'll learn

  • Use the structure 'it's time / it's about time + past simple' correctly
  • Distinguish 'needn't do' from 'needn't have done' and use them in the right context
  • Form prepositional phrases and compound nouns correctly (back of the cinema, tea cups, kitchen floor)
  • Use 'despite / in spite of + noun/-ing' and 'although + subject + verb' correctly
  • Recognise and use defining and non-defining relative clauses
  • Understand and use 'get' with adjectives to express a change of state
