Auxiliary verbs in English are be, do, have and will. They function as auxiliary verbs when followed by another verb (main verb) to form questions, negative sentences, complex sentences, or passive voice.

In English, the verb will can only be used as an auxiliary verb. It is used to form the future tense.

  • Future I: He will not play football.
  • Future II: He will have played football.

The verb will remains unchanged for all forms (without adding an 's' for 3rd person singular). Its short form is won't:

  • I will, he will
  • I will not = I won't
