Welcome to the world of Dutch – the language of dunes and winds, bicycles and cheese!
Dutch is the language connecting approximately 21 million people in the Netherlands and Belgium. Here you can learn how to understand not only the Netherlands, but also Flanders, where the language is unofficially called "Flemish".
The Netherlands and Scandinavia are currently the main centers of European linguistics. This hasn't been the case for very long; years ago, Germany was still undisputedly the great center around which all linguistics revolved.
Our Advantages
The advantages of our leading position in linguistics lie, among other things, in the increased prestige of the Dutch language. The mother tongue holds such an important place, especially for today's linguists, that Dutch plays an increasingly important role in linguistics as such. Dutch is already easy to learn for German and English speakers; this is an advantage for both countries. The teaching we offer is "ABN" – the term used for standardized language, is common civilized Dutch.
Did You Know That...
Did you know that more than a quarter of the territory of modern-day Netherlands is below sea level? However, this hasn't prevented the country's residents from being declared some of the happiest on Earth (holding an impressive sixth place!) according to statistics conducted in 2020. Yes, that's right, even in difficult circumstances, Dutch culture is oriented toward seeking comfort, peace and coziness. This is embodied in the word "gezellig" – one of the first words you might hear on Dutch soil.
