Tic Tac Toe
Tic Tac Toe is the most famous German female band. But like many super famous groups, they couldn't stay together and disbanded in 2007.
Their music brings not only fame but also quite controversial reviews. This is due to their aggressive style and provocative songs. Besides that, they're also slightly antisocial, but in a cool way.
For beginners, we recommend a slow song called "Warum?" ('Why?'). And here's the song lyrics, if you need extra support to follow along.
A slightly more challenging track for German learners is "Ich Find' Dich Scheisse" ('I think you're rubbish').
Culcha Candela
If you're fans of pop music, Culcha Candela will surely appeal to you. They're somewhat like the German version of Pitbull. Although they're a German band, their work carries a lot of Latin and Spanish influence. That's why they sometimes mix Spanish into their songs.
"Berlin City Girl" is an easy-to-understand party hit that can often be heard in German clubs. It's annoyingly pleasant and has easy lyrics (but what pop hit doesn't?).
Tokio Hotel
Tokio Hotel is a German pop-rock band that gained worldwide fame in 2007-2008. That's when they won the MTV Video Music Award for their English song 'Ready, Set, Go!'.
Although they became famous for their English songs, Tokio Hotel had enormous success at home in Germany with their German music. Thanks to it, they topped the music charts in Germany many times over.
For German learners at beginner levels, we recommend listening to "Durch den Monsun" ('Through the Monsoon'). A very melodic and relatively slow song. The lyrics contain many everyday-used words, presented more in a conversational style than in verse.
"An deiner Seite" ('By Your Side') is somewhat more complex and requires an intermediate level of language comprehension. But it shouldn't be difficult for beginners either, especially if you have the song lyrics at hand.
Silbermond
Silbermond (Silver Moon) is another German band whose lead vocalist is the incredible Stefanie Kloß. After several false starts under different names and in different languages, Silbermond began to focus more and more on their German songs. And not long after, their career took off. They won several MTV Awards and topped the music charts in numerous German-speaking countries.
"Das Beste" ('The Best') is a soft-rock ballad that's wonderful for beginners. The lyrics of the song are easy to follow.
