To + infinitive se usa muy frecuentemente en inglés para expresar intenciones:
I have come here to help you.
In order y so as pueden usarse para el mismo propósito antes de to:
I have come here in order to help you.
I have come here so as to help you.
Si el sujeto expresado por el infinitivo no determina el verbo principal de la oración, podemos usar la siguiente estructura:
I have come here in order for you to see my new hairstyle.
Para evitar el infinitivo cuando expresamos intención, se puede usar la estructura in order that + clause and so that + oración simple (clause). En la oración simple (clause) se usan frecuentemente verbos auxiliares modales:
I have come here in order that you can see my new hairstyle.
I left the door open so that she could come in.
I'm taking this book with me, so that I'll have something to read on the train.

Con los verbos go y come se puede usar infinitive of purpose en cualquier tiempo presente o pasado en inglés, o gerundio (coming, going):
I'm just coming to help you.
I went there to see the demonstration.

En otros casos, sin embargo, podemos usar and:
I must go and check the heater.
He will come and dance with you.
